we offer one tasting menu nightly:

all pricing at Kiln will have the addition of a 20% service charge, which is applied toward the restaurant’s costs in an effort to ensure the highest possible quality of service and experience when you join us and it allows us to compensate our team members more evenly.
additional gratuity is optional, but welcome. this gratuity is pooled and equitably shared among our service and kitchen teams.

due to our unique dining experience and the complexity of the menu, we are unable to accommodate requests to modify or substitute any of our dishes for food allergies, preferences and dietary needs.
kindly note that the menu is protein-driven and features varying combinations of seafood, poultry and red meat. additionally, ingredients like dairy, gluten, alliums and sugar are used throughout most of the courses on the tasting menu.

our availability is released at 12:00pm (noon), on the 1st of each month for the following month: august 1st for all of september, september 1st for all of october, october 1st for all of november, etc.
reservations for 1 to 6 guests are bookable through our Tock page.
reservations for 7 to 12 guests are welcome to book for the full tasting menu experience. please email or text us to arrange a table for a group of 7 to 12 guests.
reservations for 13+ guests requires reserving the restaurant for exclusive use, with a minimum of 6 weeks’ notice. please email or text us for any private party / exclusive use inquiries.

walk-in availability is limited, but welcome when possible. to check during dinner service hours, please text us.

we generally recommend using rideshare services if possible—it tends to be more convenient and can make your evening feel a bit more relaxed and worry-free.
that said, there’s usually some street parking available on our block. street parking can carry a bit more risk. if you go that route, we strongly suggest making sure your car is completely empty and nothing is left in view.

kiln is easily accessible by public transit, with the van ness station just a short walk away (~ 3 mins). we recommend it as a convenient and reliable option for getting to us.
muni metro
the van ness station (served by lines K, L, M, N, T) is just a 3-minute walk from our door.
from the station, head north on van ness ave, then turn right on fell street.
muni trains run frequently from early morning through late night.
fares can be paid using apple pay, google wallet or a clipper card.
bart connections
if you're coming from outside san francisco, transfer from BART at civic center station to muni metro and ride one stop to van ness.
bus routes
several muni bus lines also stop nearby, including the 21-Hayes, 47-Van Ness, and 49-Van Ness/Mission.
all stops are within a 5-minute walk.

our dining experience is thoughtfully designed to be enjoyed over approximately 2.5 hours (or less) for a party of two. we encourage you to arrive on time and allow ample time to relax and enjoy the experience you’ve booked.
please note that our 5:00pm and 5:30pm reservations are part of a two-seating schedule, and we’ll need to prepare these tables for the next guests in a timely manner. if you prefer a more leisurely pace and would like to extend your time at the table, let us know in advance—we’re happy to check if flexibility is available.
the experience begins promptly at your reservation time. if you're running late, we kindly ask that you let us know by texting us at +1 (415) 982-9722. we offer a 30-minute grace period and will do our best to accommodate you within that window.
due to the nature of our experience, seating cannot be guaranteed beyond 30 minutes past your reservation time. please understand that refunds or reschedules are not offered in these cases.
during service, our small team is focused on caring for the guests in-house, but we will respond to your text message as soon as we're able.

if you would like to cancel, change or reschedule your reservation, please do so with at least 72 hours’ notice (3 days), and we will be able to accommodate the request with credit for a future visit or a full refund.
bookings at kiln become final, non-refundable, and cannot be modified, rescheduled or cancelled within 72 hours ( days) of the reservation*. however, they are always transferrable and our team will gladly offer assistance to help rebook the seats.
because we contact all guests directly before they dine with us, we request that all bookings are formally transferred through our site. your confirmed bookings can be viewed and transferred from your Tock profile.

we will try our best to accommodate your new party size if there is an available, appropriately sized table.
a refund will not be possible in the event we are unable to offer an appropriately sized table for decreased party sizes.

our team is always happy to open special bottles from your cellar.
the corkage policy is $125 per 750mL bottle (standard size), up to two bottles. magnums are $250 per bottle, limit one. corkage for half bottles will be politely declined.
we respectfully ask that your selection does not include a wine is already represented on our wine list.
we encourage you to inquire about a particular selection by text or email.

we encourage you to dress comfortably and there is no strict dress code. that said, most of our guests naturally dress in casual elegant attire and will tend to dress up for their own occasions.

due to the length of the dining experience and the tranquil ambiance of our dining room, young guests are welcome to join us for dinner provided that they participate in the full tasting menu and enjoy the good company of their guests.
